Drew Gardner ’11 presents research at American College of Sports Medicine conference

Elon University senior Drew Gardner presented his research this week on concussions in student-athletes at the 58th Annual Meeting of the American College of Sports Medicine in Denver.

Gardner, a member of the Phoenix men’s soccer program, shared the same work in April at the “Posters on the Hill” undergraduate research program sponsored by the Council on Undergraduate Research.

Under the guidance of associate professor Eric Hall in the Department of Exercise Science, Gardner corroborated the effects of concussions on student-athletes with observable decreases in cognitive function.

The native of Apex, N.C., will graduate in December with plans to attend medical school following his Elon studies.

Gardner’s research was also mentioned in a June 3 article on U.S.News & World Report’s health website. Click here to read the post.
