Children needed for research study

Researchers are looking for children (ages 11-12) to participate in a Department of Exercise Science research study examining the relationship between physical activity and cognition. Children will have the opportunity to play Xbox 360 and Xbox Kinect games.

To participate children must be:
• Between 11-12 years old
• Right handed
• Able to participate in 20-25 minutes of physical activity

During the study child participants would be required to:
• Attend 3 sessions with student researcher; each lasting approximately 1.5 hours
• All 3 sessions should be within a 2 week period from start date
• Wear an electrode cap and use a computer mouse to respond to visual stimuli
• Take a brief intelligence test
• Take an achievement test
• Engage in 20-25 minutes of video game play (Xbox 360 Cart racing game)
• Engage in 20-25 minutes of Kinect game play (Xbox 360 Adventures Obstacle Course)
• Wear a small heart rate monitor during video game play

Parents of child participants would be required to:
• Respond to a questionnaire about child’s physical activity habits
• Provide consent for child to participate in study

Participants will receive a $25 Target gift card.
