Professor of Music Thomas Erdmann had his most recent book, How Jazz Trumpeters Understand Their Music, reviewed in the October 2011 issue of the ITG Journal.
The reviewer wrote, “Thomas Erdmann can be described as a mix of jazz musician, journalist, and music scholar. He has dedicated much of his time to exploring great trumpet artists in the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries.”
The review, written by Paul Morton, associate professor of trumpet at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, goes on to state, “Reading this book is like attending twenty-seven masterclasses… If you love the trumpet, this book will be a very interesting read.”
