6/24: The (Fort Myers, Fla.) News-Press: “Digital signs go up at J.N. ‘Ding’ Darling National Wildlife Refuge” profiled work by Lars Bredahl’s as part of his iMedia studies at Elon. Bredahl graduated in May.
7/10: (Greensboro, N.C.) News & Record: “Sacrifices of the Fallen Matter More than Memorial Politics” was a monthly business leadership column by professor emeritus David Noer, who wrote about the need to separate the commemoration of soldiers who die in wars from the politics & motivations of those who planned them. 7/12: News 14 Carolina: “DNC to look to state’s colleges for convention volunteers” includes an interview with professor Chalmers Brumbaugh in a story on student involvement with the Democratic National Convention to be hosted in Charlotte in 2012.
7/13: (Jacksonville, N.C.) Daily News and the (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News: “Teaching Fellows a plus for education” is a staff editorial lauding Elon University for its plans to fund national Teaching Fellows after state support for the program ends in 2012.
7/13: YES! Weekly: “North Carolina by Train” included observations on rail travel by Kevin Otos in the Department of Performing Arts.
7/14: WUNC 91.5 (NPR affiliate): “Elon Will Continue Teaching Fellows Program” reports on a revised Teaching Fellows offering that the university created after the state ended the program in recent budget cuts.
7/15: The Gazette (Montgomery County, Md.): “Middletown High School alumnus joins ‘South Pacific’ touring cast” profiles the work of Alex Pepper ’11, who will join the cast of a touring production of the critically acclaimed musical performance.
7/18: (Burlington, N.C.) Times-News: “Elon Academy introduces Alamance County students to college experience” recaps the 2011 summer component of the Elon Academy college access and enrichment program organized by Elon University.

7/20: (Raleigh, N.C.) News & Observer: “Press lords and political royalty” was an opinion column by professor Rosemary Haskell on the relationship between press mogul Rupert Murdoch and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
7/24: (Greensboro, N.C.) News & Record: “Docs need help, too” featured Elon’s new graduate program for physician assistant studies.

7/26: Roll Call: “Making Facebook Personal” includes quotes and information from assistant professor Mileah Kromer in a story on politicians who use social media. Kromer is researching how state lawmakers use the social network Facebook.

7/28: New York Times: “Designing a Better Food Label,” an entry on the Times’ “Well” blog, includes the design for a new food label by iMedia alumnus Bradly Mu ’11 that placed third in a national contest.
8/1: The Princeton Review: “The Best 376 Colleges” lauds Elon for its Study Abroad (#4 in the nation) and theatre programs (#15 in the nation) in the publication’s annual rankings.
8/2: Wall Street Journal: “How Long Do You Take to Get Ready?” was a post on the Journal’s “The Juggle” blog, which cited research by Elon University professors Steve DeLoach and Tina Das on grooming.
8/3: Fox 8 WGHP: “Several Local Colleges Make Princeton Review’s List of Top Schools” is a digest of North Carolina schools honored in recent Princeton Review rankings. 8/10: The St. Petersburg Times: “Recent Palm Harbor High grad makes biodiesel fuel in his family’s garage” tells the story of Evan Lutvak ’15 and his efforts to make biodiesel to fuel a 1981 Mercedes-Benz he purchased for $650.
