Ten Elon University students and one faculty member are currently attending the Excellence in Journalism conference in New Orleans, a program that features speakers, sessions and networking with industry professionals.
Speakers have included Jeff Fager, chair of CBS News, and CNN correspondent Soledad O’Brien.
Excellence in Journalism is a joint conference hosted by the Society of Professional Journalists and the Radio Television Digital News Association. On Sunday, the group accepted the award for Outstanding Chapter in Region 2.
In attendance are SPJ adviser and communications professor Anthony Hatcher, with students Kate Riley, Ronda Atallaa, Jason Puckett, Rachel Southmayd, Laura Levitt, Jacquie Adams, David Hodges, Monica Yantosh and Don Granese.
