Elon hosts ISA-South conference

More than 100 political science and international studies scholars will visit campus this weekend as Elon University hosts the 2011 International Studies Association-South meeting.

The Oct. 14-15, 2011, conference takes place in Lindner Hall in the Academic Village. Panels and roundtable discussions are scheduled for areas of interest such as challenges of globalization, strategic narratives and international relations, identity and collective memory, and the politics of reform in the Middle East, among many other topics.

Exhibitor displays will also be featured in the Lindner Hall lobby. The ISA-South Awards Luncheon at noon on Saturday will be held in McCoy Commons on Williamson Avenue.

ISA has more than 4,000 members worldwide and is the most respected and widely known scholarly association in the field.

Elon-specific workshops include sessions on the International Crisis Conference at the university, chaired by professor Chalmers Brumbaugh, and an introduction to the Elon University Poll, led by assistant poll director Mileah Kromer.
