Project Pericles-supported “Make Art Happen” CD launch – Nov. 11

“Make Art Happen,” a joint effort between Elon University’s Project Pericles and the nonprofit Alamance Citizens for Education, formally launches Friday evening with a CD release party in downtown Burlington.

“Make Art Happen – Alamance Musicians for Art Education” is a compilation of 20 local artists who worked with Bryan Baker, the senior sound and video specialist in Teaching and Learning Technologies at Elon, as part of Baker’s Project Pericles Service Sabbatical.

From 5-9 p.m. at the Company Shops Market at 268 E. Front St., guests can listen to live musical performances by Too Far Gone, Josh Lambert Bank, Back Porch Orchestra and the Harvey Dalton Arnold Blues Band, all of which appear on the CD.

Admission is free and a cash bar for drinks will be open. One hundred percent of proceeds from CD sales go to benefit Alamance County Schools art programs.

According to Baker, the goal of the project was to:

1.) Promote local artists by producing a compilation recording of local music.

2.) Provide funds for Art Education to Schools in Alamance County through Alamance Citizens for Education.

3.) Provide Elon University students with real world opportunities in the realm of marketing, promotions, sales, and community involvement.
