Stephanie Newbold ’01 receives Supreme Court fellowship

Stephanie Newbold '01, Elon's 2009 Young Alumna of the Year, has been accepted to the Supreme Court Fellowship Program beginning in August 2012.

Newbold teaches graduate courses at American University in Washington, D.C., where she serves as assistant professor in the Department of Public Administration and Policy.

The prestigious Supreme Court Fellows Program, established in 1973 by Chief Justice Warren Burger, offers its members the chance to study firsthand the dynamics of the federal judiciary. According to the program’s website, “work assignments and projects reflect the needs of the judiciary and the interests and capabilities of the fellows. Fellows gain insight into the contemporary policy issues facing the judiciary as well as an appreciation of the nature of judicial administration. Individuals best able to maximize the resources of the Supreme Court Fellows Program are those with initiative, poise, and adaptability.”

Newbold will serve as a Supreme Court Fellow from August 2012 to August 2013.
