March for Justice (in honor of Trayvon Martin) – April 11

Attention everyone,

On  Wednesday, April 11 at 5:30 p.m., the Crime Studies Club will be leading a March for Justice in honor of Trayvon Martin. We will also highlight other incidents such as the murder of Shaima Alawadi.

The point of this march is to spread awareness about these individual cases and to encourage others to take action towards justice. We should not be sitting on our couches ignoring the fact that such racial discrimination, police negligence, and overall hatred still exists and is accepted by some of our most prominent authority figures as well as ordinary citizens. Instead, let’s march and spread the word about what has caused these lives to be lost and what we can do to weaken the stereotypes and misperceptions that lead to these kinds of tragedies. Also, let us march to challenge our authority figures to improve our criminal justice system as a whole!

We will meet at Young Commons (outside of Moseley) and begin the march around 5:30 p.m. We will end the march at Speakers Corner where we will verbalize our opinions and concerns. Please help spread the word!
