Omri Shimron, assistant professor of music, presented a lecture and solo piano recital at Virginia Tech on Saturday, April 14. The program included a work by American composer Frederic Rzewski, titled 36 Variations on “The People United Will Never Be Defeated!”. In the lecture that preceded the performance, Shimron spoke of the work’s structure, stylistic influences, and political elements.
