Alumni Matthew Masten & Steven Baker’s production company receives Tony Award nomination

Bennu Productions, a theatre company co-owned by Class of 2009 alumni Matthew Masten and Steven Baker, received a Tony Award nomination on May 1 for its production of Gore Vidal’s “The Best Man” featuring James Earl Jones, Angela Lansbury, John Larroquette, Candice Bergen, Eric McCormack and Michael McKean.

The Best Man is in the middle of an 18-week run on Broadway.

Bennu Productions has a first offer deal with Tony Award-winning producer Darren Bagert and INFINITY Stages’ upcoming productions on Broadway and in London’s West End. “Bennu” is the Egyptian equivalent to the phoenix, highlighting Masten and Baker’s Elon connection.

The Tony Awards will be broadcast June 10 at 8 p.m. on CBS.
