Ugboro named to new employee relations position

Carla Morris Ugboro has been appointed as Elon’s assistant director of human resources for employee relations, a new position at the university.

She will work to develop and implement programs that promote and sustain the university’s commitment to diversity among its students, faculty and staff.

Ugboro will provide appropriate training for university supervisors to assist in the recruitment of a diverse faculty and staff. She will also serve as the university’s officer for all complaints about discrimination and harassment, serve as a resource to the university’s incident response team and assure Elon’s compliance with all federal regulations and requirements.

Ugboro has more than two decades of experience in the field of human resources. She spent ten years as manager of leadership development at VF Corporation, VF Jeanswear and VF Playwear, and six years at North Carolina A&T State University where she served as director of staff development. She also served as training supervisor at First Data Resources, a former American Express division.

Ugboro has a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina A&T State University and a professional certificate in human resources management from Duke University. She currently serves on the board of directors for the Greensboro Historical Museum and formerly served as diversity committee chair for Human Resource Management Association of Greensboro.
