Sales center survey examines graduating sales students’ job offers

In a recent survey conducted by the Chandler Family Professional Sales Center, 88% of graduating professional sales students at Elon University had job offers prior to Commencement.

Out of the job offers received, 90% of the jobs were in sales.

Students reported receiving an average of 2.19 job offers. The average potential for their earnings in their first year of working full-time is $58,400.

Below are the students’ top factors for influencing their decision:
1. Compensation
2. Company reputation
3. Culture/environment
4. Location
5. Training
6. Mentoring/sales manager
7. Product/service to sell

“Even though the economy is struggling, sales focused organizations are still aggressively hiring sales professionals,” said Michael Rodriguez, assistant professor of marketing. “More and more companies are coming to Elon University to fulfill their recruiting needs. It’s also important to understand the factors that influence their decision. This information helps both future students and our sales partners.”

Graduates of Elon’s sales program have accepted positions with companies such as Oracle, ADP, EMC, NetSuite, Education First, New York Life, The Select Group and The Prometheus Group.
