The Elon chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists has won the Outstanding Campus Chapter Award for Region 2 for the second consecutive year.
Region 2 encompasses colleges and universities in Virginia, North and South Carolina, Maryland and the District of Columbia.
Region 2 SPJ Director Brian Eckert praised Elon for what he called an outstanding regional conference, hosted on the university campus in March 2012. SPJ President Rachel Southmayd and member Rebecca Wickel, both School of Communications seniors, traveled with adviser and Associate Professor Anthony Hatcher to the SPJ National Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to pick up the award and attend professional workshops.
