What is the future of the Internet? Elon University students Addie Haney, Nicole Chadwick and Jeff Flitter assisted Janna Anderson, an associate professor in the School of Communications, in presenting a research summary about people’s hopes and fears for the future of communications to the 200 participants at the North Carolina Research and Education Network Community Day on Nov. 15.

Haney, Chadwick and Flitter have participated in undergraduate research and documentary projects for Elon’s Imagining the Internet Center. They spoke in detail about the key points that are starting to emerge from the center’s research into the emerging trends and looming issues of the evolution of global networked communications.

The event was hosted by Elon University, and it was opened with a talk by Chris Fulkerson, Elon’s assistant vice president for technology and chief information officer.

The theme of NCREN Community Day was “Think BIG.” The group includes educators, researchers, government officials and business leaders working to assure the future of high-speed Internet, networking and the applications that broadband enables.
