Elon alumnus speaks to professional selling class, gives practical advice

J. Karl Sherrill Jr. G'08 served as a guest speaker to a professional selling course at the Love School of Business on Sept. 25.

Sherrill spoke about research strategies that can be employed in professional selling. He specifically focused on using social media, such as LinkedIn, and internal sources to gain a better understanding of the client prior to meeting with them.

The course is taught by Michael Rodriguez, assistant professor of marketing. Rodriguez asked Sherrill to talk to his class because of the expertise Sherill can share.

“Karl is a true sales professional and mentor,” Rodriguez said. “Not only does he provide real world examples and practical advice, he makes himself available as a resource to students outside of class.”

Sherrill, a business insurance consultant and manufacturing specialist at Senn Dunn Insurance, is a member of the Love School of Business Board of Advisors and the Chandler Family Professional Sales Center Advisory Board. He has received numerous awards, including being named to the The Business Journal‘s Top 40 under 40 annual list of business leaders in the Piedmont Triad.
