Elon Men's Rugby club traveled to Furman this past weekend to compete in the SoConn 7s Qualifier.
They defeated App State 28-7, ECU 12-10, and UNCW 12-0. Mark Timmel had three tries, Danny Powell had two and Halley Gartner, Jon Fonvielle and Connor Reid each had one. Andrew Krutt was 6-8 on conversions.
With these wins, the team solidified their spot at Bryan Park Soccer Complex, Greensboro N.C., in the National Championship for this coming weekend. Their first of three games for Saturday, Nov. 23 is scheduled for 8:40 a.m. They will face off with Sonoma State, New Hampshire, and UW Stout in the Men’s Open Division Pool B.
