The author of “If You Knew Then What I Know Now”—a collection of personal essays about childhood, coming of age and coming out—Van Meter has published essays in The Gettysburg Review, Iowa Review, The Normal School, Fourth Genre, and Best American Essays 2009. He teaches at the University of San Francisco.
