Founders Day trivia question for March 12

As Elon celebrates the 125th anniversary of its founding, a weeklong contest testing knowledge of university history continues today with a chance for students, faculty and staff to win prizes.

In honor of Founders Day 2014, which on March 11 marked Elon’s quasquicentennial, each day this week a new trivia question will be posted on E-Net before 10 a.m. with prizes that include gift cards to restaurants and other local food establishments.

WEDNESDAY’S QUESTION:

Why was the first scheduled home football game in Rhodes Stadium cancelled?

All Elon students, faculty and staff are welcome to submit one answer to eheiser@elon.edu, and at the end of each day, all correct answers will be pooled and a winner chosen at random. Answers may be submitted until 6 p.m.

A special College Coffee and tree planting Tuesday morning on Phi Beta Kappa Plaza featured Elon presidents J. Earl Danieley ’46, Fred Young and Leo M. Lambert, and a special Elon historical exhibit is now on display in the Isabella Cannon Room in the Center for the Arts

Elon established Founders Day to honor significant figures from its history and to commemorate the lives of administrators, faculty and trustees who impacted the growth of the institution.
