Communications students selected for the 2014 Scripps Howard internship program

(l-r) Terrence McLaughlin ’17, Marisa Moody ’15 and Daniela Pereyra ’16[/caption]Three students in Elon University’s School of Communications have been selected for the Scripps Howard Foundation’s Internship and Scholarship Program.

Daniela Pereyra ’16, Terrence McLaughlin ’17 and Marisa Moody ’15 will each receive a $3,000 summer grant, along with a $500 scholarship for the fall semester.

McLaughlin, a Strategic Communications major with a minor in Entrepreneurship Studies, was named a 2014 media entrepreneurship intern and will be working at Comcast DreamIt Ventures, a media and technology accelerator program in New York.

He works currently as a design editor at The Pendulum, and his interests include the collaboration of design and innovation.

Pereyra and Moody have been selected for multimedia internships this summer. Pereyra will be interning at the EUE/Screen Gems Studios in Wilmington, N.C. Moody will be an account intern at BBDO advertising agency in New York.

Pereyra is a Media Arts & Entertainment major with a concentration in cinema. She is also minoring in Entrepreneurship and French. She is an International Fellow and a Diversity Ambassador/Tour Guide at Elon. Her first major-related project was a short film titled “Destined” that she wrote and directed during the spring of her first year at Elon.

Moody is a strategic communications major with a minor in Business Administration and Spanish. She has interned with General Dynamics, Electric Boat, Worx Branding and Advertising and Digital Surgeons. Moody is also a Communications Fellow, who currently serves as the assistant director of Live Oak Communications and the vice president of Elon’s American Advertising Federation chapter.
