Early Childhood Students and Faculty Present at State Conference

Seniors in the Early Childhood program present with faculty at a conference.  

Seniors in the Early Childhood program, Laura Koch, Katharine Fredricksen, Melissa Mischka, Ciera Martinez, and Lauren Schuessler presented at the North Carolina Association for the Education of Young Children (NCaeyc) Annual Conference in Raleigh on September 12, 2014, along with Heidi Hollingsworth, Assistant Professor of Education and Program Coordinator for Early Childhood Education.

Koch, Fredricksen, and Hollingsworth presented on strategies to facilitate mixed group play. Their presentation was entitled: “Effects of mixed age and mixed ability groupings on play skills: Play strategies for classrooms.”

Mischka, Martinez, Schuessler, and Hollingsworth presented on strategies for promoting a healthy body image: “Encouraging Positive Body Image and Body Control through Play.”

Koch, Mischka, Martinez, and Schuessler are early childhood education majors. Fredricksen is an early childhood minor and history major.
