'Evening of the Arts' featuring Elon groups to raise money for cancer support funds – Oct. 25

The Burlington Times-News’ second annual Evening of the Arts is set for Oct. 25 at the Paramount Theater at 128 E. Front St. in Burlington with appearances by Elon University a cappella groups Twisted Measure, Sweet Signatures and Vital Signs, as well the local JESS Quartet and Western Alamance High School’s a cappella group.

A silent auction, featuring paintings, pottery, sculpture and stained glass also will be offered.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the concert begins at 7 p.m. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and are $12 for students. Tickets can be purchased between noon and 3 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and one hour prior to showtime. Credit card reservations can be made by calling (336) 222-TIXS.

The event is in memory of Times-News reporter Mike Wilder, a longtime journalist who covered the local school system and Elon University before dying of cancer in April 2013.

All proceeds benefit the ARMC Foundation’s Patricia Bynum Fund and C.R. Byrd Fund, which help Alamance County cancer patients with such basic necessities as rent, gas and food.
