The Elon Club Baseball team faced off this weekend in a double header against a very good UNC-Wilmington team.
The teams were tied after 7 innings in both games and in the first contest Elon was able to win the game in the 8th extra inning; thus resulting in a tie. Sam Bonifant started the first game and struggled a little bit for the first time this season as he went 5 innings and giving up four earned runs. UNCW was shut out after the fourth as Michael Roberts provided 3 stellar innings in relief while striking out three batters. The game was won by Aubrey Wilkerson as he was walked with bases loaded in the bottom half to bring home the winning run. The second game was just as close and would have been a nail biter if it had played into the extra innings. Justin Cedeno provided most of the offense for Elon going 2 for 2 with two doubles. Overall a great weekend to prepare us for UVa next Sunday.
