Amy Overman speaks with WFMY News 2 about memory exercises

The associate professor of psychology appeared on a Dec. 4, 2014, "2 Wants to Know" segment on brain fitness and how to minimize the memory loss that begins to take place in humans after the age of 25.

Associate Professor Amy Overman was a guest expert in early December 2014 for WFMY News 2’s “fitness week,” and she shared with viewers across parts of central North Carolina tips for boosting memory and keeping the brain healthy as it ages.

Overman, a cognitive neuroscientist and an expert in memory, aging and the brain, demonstrated on “2 Wants to Know” a card game she developed along with her husband, a neuroscientist at N.C. A&T State University in Greensboro, N.C.

“Brain function does start to decline after the age of 25 but it’s very subtle,” Overman said on the Dec. 4, 2014, program. “And most of the time we notice it more (as we get older) than we did when we were younger.”

Overman is co-founder of Elon’s neuroscience minor and currently serves as a member of the Neuroscience Advisory Committee and as faculty advisor for the Elon University Neuroscience Club.
