Applications now being accepted to be a Doherty Scholar

Rising juniors and seniors of all majors are invited to apply to be a Doherty Scholar for the 2015-16 academic year.

The 2015-16 Doherty Scholars will be provided an annual scholarship and will be expected to provide leadership within the Martha and Spencer Love School of Business and the Doherty Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership.
 
Eligible Students: Rising juniors & seniors from across all majors in the university. You must be on campus in both the fall and spring semesters.
 
Amount of Award: $2,000 scholarship applied toward tuition. Students can receive the award during both their junior and senioryears by applying each year.
 
Expectations of Doherty Scholars: The goal of the Doherty Center is to become a hub for entrepreneurial activity on the Elon University campus and the Triad region. First and foremost the Doherty Scholars will be an example by:
 
1.      Developing an entrepreneurial project that leads to:
a.       a startup venture or
b.       a socially-oriented enterprise or
c.       the building of the Doherty Center on campus through student leadership in activities and events such as the Triple Impact Challenge, Triad Startup Weekend, visiting speakers, and outreach to local universities.
 
Other leadership responsibilities include:
 
2.      Presenting a project, as an individual or member of a team, at the Triple Impact Challenge.
3.      Active engagement with Elon’s Innovation House & Entrepreneurship Living Learning Community.
4.      Supporting on-campus entrepreneurship activities
 
Application Process:  
1.       Return the completed application form, a copy of your OnTrack transcript, and a resume to KoBC 100 by 5 p.m. Friday, March 13.
2.       Finalists in the application process should be available to interview with an award committee consisting of Doherty Center faculty and current Doherty Scholars on a date to be announced. Part of this interview includes a 3-minute pitch of your entrepreneurial project.
 
Selection Process:  The award committee will select three students as Doherty Scholars based on applications, interviews and input from faculty. Those selected will receive invitations to the LSB Student and Faculty Awards Ceremony on April 23, 2015.
