Meghan Williford receives Sarah Parker Award

Elon Law student Meghan Williford has been recognized by the North Carolina Association of Women Attorneys (NCAWA) with their annual award named in honor of retired Chief Justice Sarah Parker of the Supreme Court of North Carolina.

NCAWA’s Sarah Parker Award recognizes law student leaders active in their law school and community who work to assure the effective participation of women in the justice system and in public office, promote the rights of women under the law and improve the administration of justice.

Williford L’16 is philanthropy chair of the Women’s Law Association at Elon Law, a member of the Council for Christ student organization and a participant in the North Carolina Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Wills for Heroes initiative. She organized and directed the 2015 Women’s Law Association 7th Annual 5k Run for Women’s Health.

Williford holds a B.A. from Appalachian State University, where she was named to the Dean’s List for academic achievement for four semesters. While at Elon Law, her legal practice experience includes positions as a law clerk with Bagwell Holt Smith, P.A., James B. Wilson & Associates, the City of Hickory-City Attorney’s Office and Catawba County-County Attorney’s Office.

NCAWA provides a scholarship in the amount of $500 to recipients of the Sarah Parker Award at each North Carolina law school.
