USA Today, Wall Street Journal and College Factual highlight Elon programs in 2016 college ranking

Elon University earns 25 badges for excellence in a set of rankings based on the outcomes of a college education.

College Factual, in partnership with USA Today and the Wall Street Journal Asia, recognizes Elon University in the top 15 percent of the nation’s colleges and universities in its 2016 college rankings, which were released Sept. 8, 2015. Elon is ranked among the top five schools in North Carolina, along with Duke University, Wake Forest University, Davidson College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The College Factual rankings are based on 11 factors of quality, measuring caliber of the student body, educational resources, degree completion and post-graduation earnings. The rankings do not involve any subjective data and schools are not grouped into categories.

The rankings also attempt to measure the quality of academic programs and majors, comparing schools in a variety of fields. Elon’s communications and journalism program ranks in the top 1 percent of 578 programs. Other majors receiving rankings in the top 15 percent include leisure/sport management; business, business administration, management and marketing; accounting; finance and financial management; public administration and social service; radio, television and digital communication; special education; health and human performance; public relations and advertising; drama and theater arts.
