Daniel Marin ’06 stars in Costa Rican film

The acting graduate is one of the lead actors in “Presos” (Prisoners), a Costa Rican film that premiered in that country in early September.

Acting graduate Daniel Marin ’06 is one of three lead actors in the latest film by Award winning Costa Rican director Esteban Ramírez.

The film, “Presos,” tells the story of Victoria, a young woman who as a part of her new job befriends an inmate. Marin plays Emanuel, Victoria’s boyfriend. The film set outs to show that not only people behind bars have lost their freedom.

The movie has been screened at several international festivals including the Malaga Film Festival in Spain and the Santander International Festival in Colombia, where it garnered two awards for best actress and best film. It premiered in Costa Rica in early September and has also been selected for the Trieste Film Festival in Italy.

After graduating Elon with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2006, Marin began his career with a recurring role on “The Bold and the Beautiful.” He soon found success in commercials having been featured in campaigns for Toyota, Verizon, Honda, 7-Eleven and McDonald’s. He is also the official voice in Spanish for Burger King. His film career was launched when he starred in the 2008 award winning film, “El Primo” (The Cousin). Marin lives in New York City.
