Talks on the Steps explore Elon's Performance of Shakespeare's comedy
Faculty and students from the Departments of English and Performing Arts will offer “Talks on the Steps” before performances of All’s Well that Ends Well, Shakespeare’s comedy about gender roles, class divisions, mistaken identity, and a reluctant lover who must learn the true meaning of devotion. Each “Talk on the Steps” offers insight into the themes of the play or the creative process from a distinct point of view. Speakers will include:
Friday Feb. 5: Dr. Megan Isaac of the English Department will explore Shakespeare’s language and the challenges of All’s Well that Ends Well‘s text
Saturday Feb. 6: Assistant Director and Acting major Samantha Potak will discuss how to direct a Shakespeare script, and the complicated role of the understudy.
Talks take place at 7pm in the Roberts Studio Theatre lobby at Scott Studios. Talks are free and open to the public. All’s Well that Ends Well is directed by Fred Rubeck. Performances take place in the Roberts Studio Theatre February 3 through 5 at 7:30pm, and Saturday February 6 at 2pm and 7:30pm.
