Amanda Tapler, senior lecturer and chair of the Department of Health and Human Performance, and Resa Walch, senior lecturer in the Department of Health and Human Performance, were awarded a $3,000 grant from the American College Health Foundation for their project “Jumpstarting a Multi-Year Health Promotion Project through Connections and Collaborations.”
The grant funds will allow them to begin the implementation of a five-year multi-level intervention that emphasizes a specific health concern each year utilizing health promotion strategies, including an investigation of social and environmental factors that influence the selected health issues. They hope to create a sustainable curricular and co-curricular plan that fosters positive Healthy Campus 2020 outcomes linked specifically to sleep, stress, suicide and suicide ideation, body image, and high risk alcohol consumption.
