Greek Week set for April 3-9

Every year, Fraternity and Sorority Life at Elon sponsors Greek Week. This year’s Greek Week will have an impact beyond Elon’s campus. While service has been integrated with Greek Week in the past, this year is the first in which every day of the week has an event that provides opportunity for service or philanthropy.

“Our hope was to provide members in different chapters the opportunity to interact with each other while living out a value we all hold dear – giving back to the community,” said Dan Faill, director of fraternity and sorority life.

An Elon tradition, Greek Week allows National Pan-Hellenic Council, Interfraternity Council and Panhellenic Council to come together to show their pride. This year, Greek Week, taking place April 3-9, is being organized by a committee compromised of students. Planned events include a game night that will also host a book drive, a barbeque that will also host a food drive, and an American Red Cross blood drive.

Greek Week also falls during the same week as Elonthon, a 24 hour dance marathon that raises money for Children’s Miracle Network & Duke Children’s Hospital. All proceeds of the Greek Week dance will go towards Elonthon. Elonthon, though not organized by the Greek Week Committee, will also be the final event of Greek Week.

“We wanted to make all the activities related to service, philanthropy or volunteerism because that’s what we love to do” said Greek Week Committee Chair Dionna Stanton. “It’s not just about us, it’s about the Elon community and the Burlington Alamance community.”
