Don’t Trash It! Volunteers Needed May 13 – 25

Items collected during the Don’t Trash It! campaign are donated to Allied Churches, Habitat for Humanity, First Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Alamance Caswell and Goodwill.

Don’t Trash It! is a campaign to collect usable items during move out.  Items are diverted from landfills and are donated to one of six different community organizations: Allied Churches, Habitat for Humanity, First Presbyterian Church, Hospice of Alamance Caswell, Helping Other People Every Day and Goodwill.

Volunteers are needed to help collect items from ‘Donation Stations’ across campus and bring them to a central location for community partners.  Volunteers can sign up to help for 2 hours one day or sign up to help multiple days.

In 2015 the following amounts were collected.  This would not be possible without volunteers!

  • 10,080 lbs. of goods to Goodwill
  • 9 truckloads of furniture to Habitat for Humanity
  • 1,338lbs. of food to Allied Churches
  • 715 lbs. of  sheets and comforters First Presbyterian
  • 4 truckloads of items to Hospice Alamance Caswell
