Alumni Chapters Recognized for Outstanding Achievements

On July 15 four alumni chapters and two alumni chapter leaders were recognized for their outstanding contributions to Alumni Engagement efforts in the 2015-16 academic year. 

On Friday, July 15 and Saturday, July 16, leaders from 14 of Elon’s 36 alumni chapters gathered on campus for an annual Chapter Leader Retreat to complete training and participate in discussions regarding the future of how we engage alumni across the country and the world. 

As a part of this retreat, The Office of Alumni Engagement hosted the innaugural Alumni Chapter Awards ceremony, recognizing four chapters and two individuals for their achivements in Elon’s regional alumni programs. The awards and this year’s winners are listed below:

Highest Percentage of Alumni Engaged:
Awarded to the Los Angeles Alumni Chapter for engaging 35% of their local alumni through events planned and hosted by the alumni chapter. 

Best Elon Day Party:
Awarded to the Washington, D.C. Alumni Chapter. The chapter engaged 90+ alumni at this Elon Day Party on March 8, 50% of whom made a gift on Elon Day either on their own or at the event. 

Most Unique Event:
Awarded to the Charlotte Alumni Chapter in recognition of their Elon 102 event which brought alumni together for a series of professional development breakout sessions led by alumni peers, covering topics such as real estate in the Charlotte area, financial planning and personal insurance. 

Most Improved Chapter:
Awarded to the Triad Alumni Chapter for making great strides in alumni leadership within the volunteer board as well as in the number and quality of events hosted to engage local alumni.

Rookie Award:
Awarded to Elena Pipino ’12. Since establishing and taking over leadership of this new chapter in 2015, Elena has led a board of volunteers in hosting 5 events in an area that previously did not have an established means of engaging local alumni.

MVP Award:
Awarded to Dave Brown ’13. Since taking on leadership of the Boston Chapter in Spring 2016, Dave has shown a true commitment to engaging his peers through chapter events and a determination to see the Boston Chapter grow to its full potential. In addition to his chapter commitment, Dave has consistently supported Elon through annual gifts to funds that are personal priorities for him, exemplifying what it means to be a Partner, Advocate and Investor in Elon.
