A recent article looking at five judicial elections in Guilford County included insights from Elon University School of Law Dean Luke Bierman in how judges are elected in North Carolina.
“10 seek election for 5 contested District Court seats,” which ran Oct. 10 in the News & Record of Greensboro, looked at how voters can educate themselves about candidates for the bench.
“People should pull up information online,” Bierman told the newspaper. “Talk to practicing attorneys about the candidates, how they conduct themselves and their experiences with these folks.”
Bierman’s legal scholarship, focusing on judicial selection, justice system reform, state constitutional law and ethics, has been published in a variety of national law reviews. His legal analysis and commentary on legal education as well as ethics have been published in The New York Times, Washington Post, Albany Times-Union, National Public Radio, Greensboro News and Record, Raleigh News & Observer, WRAL-TV, UNC-TV, Huffington Post, National Law Journal, New York Law Journal and other national and regional news media.
