The Triad Business Journal recently turned a spotlight on Jon Dooley, who has been selected in December to follow Smith Jackson as vice president of student life and dean of students when Jackson retires at the end of this academic year after more than 23 years of service.

Dooley has served as Elon’s assistant vice president for student life and dean of campus life since January 2014, and was announced as Jackson’s successor in December. The Jan. 20 article in the Greensboro business publication titled “In the Spotlight: Jon Dooley” offered more insight into Dooley’s background, as well as a broader look at him as a person.

Asked about which civic activity has impacted him the most, Dooley responded, “Service experiences that bring me in contact with individuals I might not otherwise encounter always help give me perspective. I was originally going to be a history and social studies teacher and believe strongly in civics education.”
