Elon students shine in statewide classical singing competition

In a state competition for classical singers, three Elon students were recognized for their talents and will qualify for the regional competition in March.

Three students from the Elon University Department of Music successfully competed in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Statewide Classical Singing Auditions held on the campus of the University of North Carolina, Greensboro on Feb. 17. 

Julianne Papadopoulos, a music in liberal arts major, won second place in Division 7B, Sophomore Women, and Samantha Childers, a music education major won third place in Division 11A, Junior Women. 

Both singers, along with music performance major Sarah Baker, received high marks qualifying them for the Regional NATS competition which will be held in March at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. All three singers are voice students of Associate Professor of Music Hallie Coppedge Hogan.
