Lavender Graduation and Awards Dinner – May 1

This annual event is a year-end celebration for all LGBTQIA and Ally students, faculty, and staff.  Students who are graduating will be honored during the dinner, and achievements in LGBTQIA inclusion at Elon will be recognized.

The 2017 Lavender Graduation and Awards Dinner will be Monday, May 1 from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in Lakeside 2nd Floor Meeting Rooms, which is a newly expanded location due to high demand and attendance.

Hosted by director of the Gender & LGBTQIA Center Matthew Antonio Bosch, attendees will enjoy a fun and festive dinner, an awards show and end with a celebratory musical performance from one of Elon’s incredibly energizing student a cappella groups. Elon University President Leo M. Lambert will give congratulatory remarks to all attending seniors and graduates, as will members of Elon’s LGBTQIA Alumni Network.

Lavender Graduation ceremonies occur each year across many colleges and universities to both praise advancements in LGBTQIA campus climate and officially recognize and honor the identities, leadership, contributions, and successes of LGBTQIA students at Elon. Our graduating seniors seek out this event as a final family farewell following four years of their time here at Elon. It is a time to reflect on where we’ve come from, and where we are headed, in school and in life.

Graduating seniors will receive a lavender graduation cap, rainbow tassel, alumni gift and framed certificate of achievement.

Absolutely all are welcome to attend. Additional information can be found at http://www.elon.edu/e-web/students/lgbtq/lavgrad.xhtml.  If you would like to attend Elon University’s Lavender Graduation and Awards Dinner, please RSVP to mbosch3@elon.edu.
