Elon University will honor Elie Wiesel as it participates in the National Jewish Theater Foundation's Holocaust Theater International Initiative Remembrance Readings on Monday, April 24.
On April 24, Elon University will participate in the National Jewish Theater Foundation’s Holocaust Theater International Initiative Remembrance Readings 2017 in honor of author Elie Wiesel.
Elon will join with other colleges and community organizations across the United States in simultaneous staged readings of Elie Wiesel’s “Dialogs,” a series of short plays about love and loss. With others, students, faculty and staff will draw on the power of theater to honor Holocaust victims and survivors, stimulate reflection on the Holocaust and deepen understandings of its lessons in contemporary society.
Join us in the McBride Gathering Space on Monday, April 24, at 12:15 p.m. Immediately following the performances, there will be a panel discussion on the importance of remembrance with guests Assistant Professor of History Andrea Sinn and Associate Chaplain for Jewish LIfe Rabbi Meir Goldstein and moderator Assistant Professor of Theatre Susanne Shawyer.
This event has been coordinated by Assistant Professor of Performing Arts Kim Shively and is co-sponsored by Hillel/Jewish Life and the Truitt Center for Religious Studies.
Refreshments will be served. Elon classes and local community members are welcome. Please RSVP to firstname.lastname@example.org in order to assist us with planning refreshments.
