Track work to impact railroad crossings this week

Norfolk Southern Railroad is making track repairs that will require the temporary closures of crossings at Oak Street, Williamson Avenue and Church Street this week. Campus bus routes are being adjusted. See this note for details.

railroad track work
Norfolk Southern Railroad will be working on the railroad crossing at Oak Street this afternoon (by the Magnolia Cemetery). When they finish tomorrow they will open the Oak Street crossing and start on the crossings at Williamson Avenue and Church Street. If you normally traverse these crossing coming to campus, please allow at least 10 minutes extra time to navigate the detour.  Follow the detour signs that will be posted.

The university will run a bus every 15 minutes between the Inman Admissions Welcome Center bus stop and Trollinger House (at the corner of Trollinger Street and Holt) which is proximate to the Station at Mill Point and student residences south of the railroad tracks. The first bus will start at 7:15 a.m. from Trollinger House. It will run until access across Williamson Ave. is restored for pedestrian traffic.

If you are walking, do NOT walk across a closed crossing. Also, be aware that equipment will be traveling along the tracks so please listen for horns and look before you travel across the crossings.
