Session set for 'Best Practices in Writing Instruction'

This session is designed for all teaching faculty interested in getting feedback on their writing assignments and learning about best practices in writing instruction. Those working on the Writing Excellence Initiative for their majors may find this session especially helpful. Held on 8/23/17 at noon.

After a brief overview of some best practices in writing instruction (with special focus on scaffolding and peer-response), participants will be invited to ask questions and get feedback on their writing assignments. This session will be held on Wednesday, Aug, 23, at noon in Belk Pavilion, Room 208.

The goal of this session is to provide concrete ideas, strategies and feedback so that faculty can feel more confident that writing assignments will maximize student learning and minimize grading time. Whether you have a complete writing assignment drafted or are at the brainstorming stage, all are welcome to attend this session.

Please bring any drafts you may have and also your laptop, as this will be a working session. We will also share the different ways that the Center for Writing Excellence (including the Writing Across the University program and the Writing Center) support not only faculty writing pedagogy, but faculty writing as well.

Lunch will be served, so please RSVP by Aug. 17.
