Dean Ann Bullock is one of 16 from the educational community selected to serve on the newly created Professional Educator and Preparation Standards Commission.
Ann Bullock, dean of the Elon University School of Education, has been selected to serve on a commission formed to study all aspects of teacher preparation, licensure, continuing education and standards of conduct.
“I am honored to represent Elon University as a member of this Commission,” Bullock said. “Educators are an important part of the future of our great state, and I look forward to working on all aspects related to educator preparation with my colleagues from across North Carolina. ”
Bullock was appointed by the N.C. House, and joins K-12 teachers, principals, administrators and superintendents as well as deans of education schools around the state.
The legislation creating the commission states that its purpose is to “involve stakeholders in establishing high standards for North Carolina teachers.” The commission will submit recommendations related to all aspects of educator preparation programs and professional standards for teachers to the N.C. Board of Education, with its first report due to the board by Dec. 1, 2018.
