CATL Workshop – Better Collaboration: Designing Group Projects with Scrum

Facilitated by Rebecca Pope-Ruark, associate professor of English, and author of Agile Faculty: Practical Strategies for Managing Research, Service, and Teaching (2017).

Most faculty use group project assignments at some point in the semester, but why? Are your group projects creating the learning outcomes you hope for? In this workshop, we’ll explore how to create effective group project assignments and talk to students about successful collaboration strategies. Building on a chapter from her book, Agile Faculty: Practical Strategies for Managing Research, Service, and Teaching (2017), Rebecca Pope-Ruark will walk participants through the process of articulating project goals and outcomes using the “user story” technique, designing group projects that actually require collaboration, and using the Scrum project management framework to help students collaborate effectively.
