Impressive outcomes: The Class of 2017

New data from Elon’s Student Professional Development Center documents the success of last year’s graduating class.

Elon’s annual First Destination survey shows impressive outcomes for the Class of 2017 nine months after graduation. The data was compiled by Elon’s Student Professional Development Center and includes information from 95 percent of the graduating class.

  • 96 percent of graduates are either employed, attending graduate school, completing post-graduate internships or fellowships, or working for a service organization
  • 84 percent of the class was employed nine months after graduation and 93 percent of those said their positions were related to their career objectives
  • 24 percent of the class had been accepted to graduate or professional school programs
  • The average salary of the Class of 2017 was $42,992, a $1,875 increase from the previous year’s average salary.

“These First Destination results for the Class of 2017 are very strong,” said Tom Brinkley, executive director of the Student Professional Development Center. “These figures reflect a robust job market as well as the focus and determination of our graduates in their career searches and graduate school applications. Only about 2 percent of our graduates said they are still on the job market, which is a remarkable figure.”
