Elon students win Mid-Atlantic Regional voice competition

The music and music theatre majors participated in the National Association of Singing Mid-Atlantic regional voice competition and conference held March 21-23 in Towson, Maryland. 

After winning and advancing from the NC state level earlier this spring, several Elon music and music theatre majors recently participated in the National Association of Teachers of Singing Mid-Atlantic Regional voice competition and conference.

Held at Towson University in Towson, MD on March 21-23, each student competed in his or her respective categories against other top singers from Maryland, Virginia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Washington, D.C. Valerie Maze and Carla Ely accompanied the students. The following students were winners, and all are eligible to compete at the nationals, which will be held in Minnesota in June.

Gianni Palmarini won first place in first-year music theatre men. He is a voice student of Polly Cornelius.

Nathan Keffer won second place in first-year music theatre men. He is a voice student of Polly Cornelius.

Tyler Okunski won third place in first-year music theatre men. He is a voice student of Polly Cornelius.

Hannah Ellowitz won second place in first-year music theatre women. She is a voice student of Julie Celona-Van Gordon.

Cara Di Pietro won second place in Sophomore music theatre women. She is a voice student of Julie Celona-Van Gordon.

Maxime Prissert won first place in Junior music theatre men. Maxime also won a scholarship to attend the American Institute of Musical Studies summer voice program in Graz, Austria. He is a voice student of Polly Cornelius.

Jacob Hartman won fifth place in Junior music theatre men. He is a voice student of Polly Cornelius.

Tara Willey won second place in Junior music theatre women. She is a voice student of Polly Cornelius.
