Inaugural Phoenix 4th Friday to be held Sept. 27

The event is a collaboration between Elon University, the Burlington Downtown Corporation, the City of Burlington and local nonprofits and businesses.

The community is invited to the first Phoenix 4th Friday, a collaboration between Elon University, the Burlington Downtown Corporation, the City of Burlington and local nonprofits and businesses.

Phoenix 4th Friday will be held Sept. 27 from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m.

The event will be held Friday, Sept. 27, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. in downtown Burlington’s Historic Depot and coincides with the university’s Family Weekend, which brings thousands to campus each year. The new offering adds to the wide variety of activities for visiting family members, and offers another opportunity for the campus community to tap into all that downtown Burlington has to offer.

The event launches this year with the goal of engaging as many Elon faculty, staff, students, parents and friends of the university with local community members, leaders and businesses as a collective celebration of the shared commitment to the community. Members of the Elon community are encouraged to wear their maroon and gold to demonstrate their school spirit.

Phoenix 4th Friday is part of the 4th Friday series offered by the Burlington Department of Parks and Recreation that brings people downtown for music, games, activities and socializing on the fourth Friday of the month beginning in May. The university has partnered with the event in the spirit of making new discoveries and a sense of unified meaning and purpose between Elon University and the surrounding community.
