Futrell presents at University of Colorado Boulder

Associate Professor of Music Stephen A. Futrell presented virtually for choral graduate students.

Elon Director of Choral Activities Stephen A. Futrell was invited and appeared virtually with doctoral and masters-level graduate students for the University of Colorado Boulder Choral Studies Program on April 22, 2020.

Futrell’s presentation focused on three settings of Marion antiphons composed by Anna Amalia Herzogin von Sachsen (1739-1807). His modern editions of these works are published by Fred Bock Music. His discussion included classical style/rhetoric, score analysis and preparation, and the process of producing modern editions. In addition, Futrell discussed choral conducting technique, rehearsal strategies, and teaching voice.

Lastly, the virtual meeting was opened up to Q&A involving the job search process, developing your curriculum vitae, issues surrounding the interview process, and teaching at the college level.
