Alumni volunteers gather virtually for the 2020 Regional Alumni Chapter Retreat

On July 18, 38 regional chapter presidents joined a virtual retreat with motivation to start the fiscal year strong

On Saturday, July 18, alumni leadership from 38 regional alumni chapters across the country and in London joined a Zoom video call with staff members from the Office of Alumni Engagement to discuss plans for the upcoming fiscal year. On average, the regional alumni chapter network plans around 200 events per year to engage alumni across the country.

Morgan O’Brien ’16, President of the Boston Alumni Chapter, shares ideas with fellow regional chapter presidents.

During the retreat, chapter presidents were able to converse with each other in a large group, as well as within smaller break-out rooms, about chapter goals for the 2020-21 fiscal year. Additionally, the alumni brainstormed creative ideas on how to transition chapter events from the typical in-person format to becoming mainly virtual this fall.

Throughout the summer, many of Elon’s regional alumni chapters started hosting virtual events for alumni in their cities, including virtual college coffees, virtual happy hours, virtual exercise classes, professional development webinars and more. Beginning in August, most of the chapters will host their Welcome to the City event virtually, designed to introduce recent Elon graduates and relocated alumni to their new city.

The Office of Alumni Engagement would like to sincerely thank all the regional chapter leadership that participated in the retreat and for the dedication they provide in connecting Elon alumni in their city.

Stay tuned for upcoming communications about virtual chapter events in your city and be sure to regularly check the complete list of virtual events on the Lifelong Connections webpage.
