Six full-time faculty members join Love School of Business

The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business welcomes new full-time faculty members in marketing, management and finance.

The Martha and Spencer Love School of Business welcomed six new full-time faculty members in August 2020, bringing the school’s total number of full-time faculty to 66.

The new full-time faculty members are:

Rob Elbitar, lecturer in marketing

  • B.S.B.A., Marketing and Management, University of Arizona; MBA, Elon University
  • He previously taught at Elon University.
  • His professional experience includes roles as site leader for Wells Fargo, owner of Alpha Home Mortgage/Pinnacle Funding Inc., and sales and marketing leader at NewStar Mortgage, Inc.

David Jiang, assistant professor of management

  • B.S.B.A., Management, Appalachian State University; MBA, Appalachian State University; Ph.D., Business Administration, University of Tennessee
  • His research interests focus on the psychological and sociological antecedents, processes and outcomes of meso-level phenomena in closely-held businesses. In particular, his current research stream seeks to move beyond current macro-oriented approaches to studying closely-held business, helping further build and extend the theoretical microfoundations of family firms and entrepreneurial ventures.
  • He previously taught at Georgia Southern University and the University of Tennessee.
  • Prior to academia, he was creative director and a sales representative at Charlotte International Trade and was a self-employed graphic designer.

David Moura, lecturer in management

  • B.S.B.A., Marketing, University of Evansville; MBA and Ph.D. in Public Administration, Florida Atlantic University
  • His research interests include strategy-as-practice, organizational stigma and scandal, and government issues in management.
  • He previously taught at Elon University and Florida Atlantic University.
  • His professional experience includes roles as implementation specialist at Sprint, branch operations manager at Countrywide Home Loans and co-owner/founder of HLS Mortgage Brokerage.

Christopher Nelson, assistant professor of marketing

  • B.S.B.A., Marketing; Gardner-Webb University; M.M.R., Southern Illionois University; Ph.D., Marketing, West Virginia University
  • His research is primarily focused on developing and recovering trust in buyer-seller relationships with secondary research interests in customer relationship management (CRM) and brand strategy.
  • He previously taught at Duquesne University.
  • He worked in professional sales and marketing research before entering academia.

Chase Reid, lecturer in finance

  • B.B.A., Economics and Financial Service & Planning, Baylor University; Candidate, M.S., Finance, Georgetown University; CFA Charterholder; CFP Professional
  • An investment advisor with experience managing client relationships, creating successful portfolios, and delivering exceptional service, he has worked with institutional and high net worth families with up to $650.0M in investable assets.
  • His professional experience includes roles as associate wealth advisor at Trust Company of the South, senior investment advisor at PNC Bank, and partner and investment solutions manager at CFO4Life.

Long Xia, assistant professor of management information systems

  • B.S., Chemistry, Hunan University; M.S., Medicinal Chemistry; Ph.D., Business (Information Systems), Virginia Tech
  • His primary research interests include artificial intelligence, machine/deep learning and data mining/analytics.
  • He previously taught at Virginia Tech.
