Introducing Elon University’s Spirit of the Season series

Each week during December, Elon will be releasing a new video to highlight moments that make the winter season extra special.

This month, Elon is offering Spirit of the Season, a weekly video series throughout the month of December that will highlight moments that make the winter season extra special.

Tune in to Elon’s social media channels every Wednesday this month to learn a new craft, meet one of Elon’s finest dairy providers and add a new recipe to your cooking repertoire.

The video above offers a welcome message from President Connie Ledoux Book, and you can find other goodies for the holiday season on the university’s Spirit of the Season website.

The text of the introductory video is below.

Greetings to the Elon community. I am Connie Book, president of Elon University, and I am excited to announce a special, winter video series: Spirit of the Season.

Due to the changes in scheduling, we were unable to host several of the annual, winter traditions but we still wanted to find a way to celebrate all the good things of the season like treasured traditions, good food, family and friends.

In this series, you can learn a new recipe, meet a farmer and his bovine friend, Pearl, create a winter craft and learn how some Elon families celebrate the holidays. Video segments will be released weekly in December, so stay tuned to our Elon social channels.

One of my favorite Elon traditions is underway behind me: the Elon luminaries. What began in 1990, has become a special time for the community, and I am pleased that in spite of the changes on campus this semester, we are still able to honor the season in this way.

The luminaries are spread along the pathways in Historic campus, signifying our incredible donors, and honors the traditions of all faiths and identities represented at Elon. If you were unable to be on campus for the event, a recording is available to view on Today at Elon.

This is the time when we slow down… take a deep breath and join together. Although we are all celebrating differently this year, I hope that you are as ready for the holiday season as we are here at Elon.

Enjoy!
