Associate Professor Carrie Eaves discusses unprecedented nature of the inauguration with media

The report by FOX affiliate WGHP noted that many elements of the inauguration of Joe Biden will be different, but there will also be familiar portions despite changes due to the pandemic and security concerns.

A recent report looking at the Jan. 20 inauguration of Joe Biden by FOX affiliate WGHP featured insights from Carrie Eaves, associate professor of political science and policy studies.

The report noted that the inauguration of Biden as the country’s 46th president will have many different elements due to security concerns and the COVID-19 pandemic, with the large crowds typical of a presidential inauguration absent from the capital this year.

That does not take away from the importance of this event, Eaves told reporter Charles Ewing. “We’re still having this transfer of power,” Eaves said. “It’s an important moment we should take not of, tune in and pay attention to.”

While the schedule of events will be different, key elements will be the same, Eaves said. “We will still see the swearing-in with the chief justice, and a speech. There will be some elements that will feel familiar,”  Eaves said.
